Dell studio 1535, someone upgraded the dam thing to WIN7 Ultimate, then she(this is my daughters pc) got some fricken virus. I tried for 3 days to do something, got the virus gone, but everything was fricken hidden, I finally got her documents moved to a external HD. THIS linked helped, as we had no disks. I did have to cope the oledlg.dll file from the C:\ Drive, but not the syswow64 version, the 32 version. PCrestore would work, appreciate the the links. Please Help!
I have a Dell Inspiron N5040. I am trying to restore my OS to the factory settings, trying to access the hidden partition by pressing the F8 button on start up. On the following menu I choose "Repair Computer". The next window shows loading the files, then Windows starts normally. I've repeated this 100 times and I just won't get pass this to actually initiate the restoring of the system. Any ideas? Thank you

With hirens disk you need to use gimagex not imagex!Also you need to locate gimagex on the bootcd and provide the full path.

Great! This worked for my Dell mini 1010 with windows 7; It didn't have the tools directory in the recovery partition but I had another machine which originally had vista. I copied the Tools directory from the Vista recovery partition, put it on the Mini 1010 recovery partition and followed the procedure; it worked perfectly. Outstanding!

Download Hiren's BootCD from http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
Burn Hiren's BootCD to a CD
Put the Hiren's BootCD into CD Drive and Reboot computer
Select "Mini XP" from the menu
Double click on "My Computer"
Identify the partition that you use for your operating system
Right click on that partition and select "Format" to ensure a clean install

Identify the recovery partition and go to the "Imaging" folder
Right click on the "Imaging" folder and select "Command Prompt Here"
At the command prompt type (substituting c for your particular recovery partition and e for the partition that you use for your operating system)
